New insights into a cancer cell’s microenvironment
The microenvironment of cancer cells holds clues to both the natural progression of a cancer and the likely success of some treatments, notably immunotherapy. Its role is increasingly understood and was explored in depth at the EACR Congress (Manchester, UK; 9-12 July).
Moshe Oren (Weizmann Institute, Israel), a former EACR President and member of the Congress organising committee, said that understanding what’s happening in the cancer cell is only part of the story. In this month’s EJC News Focus, he tells Helen Saul that the cross talk between a cancer cell and its environment is key to a fuller understanding.
